Red Reflections in Kyoto

This is another view of "The Reddest Alley in Kyoto" that I published last Wednesday. If you compare the photos, you'll notice that the cobblestones are wet in this photo and dry in last week's. Although both photos are of the same alley, they were taken at different days and at different times. This photo was taken before the restaurant opened (most of the bars and restaurants in this area open at 6:00 p.m.), and one of the workers had just splashed the area in front of the entrance with water, as is customary in Kyoto. Last week's photo was taken around 8:00 p.m., and the water had dried long ago. Both these photos are variations on the photo "Ponto-cho Alley" in my second book, One Hundred Views of Kyoto.
