Jizo in Kyoto, Part I

Although I find geisha and maiko extraordinarily beautiful, my other favorite photographic subjects in Kyoto are the crumbling and decaying jizo often found tucked away in a back corner of many of the city's temples. After one or two months of photographing geiko and maiko intensively, I relax by photographing these jizo. They are almost the complete opposite of geiko and maiko, so they help me keep a good balance. And jizo never get tired or have trouble holding a pose or have difficulty understanding my less-than-perfect Japanese...
