Jidai Matsuri: Hashiba Hideyoshi
Hashiba Hideyoshi began as a foot soldier for Oda Nobunaga, one of Japan's greatest military commanders, and he rose through the ranks until he succeeded Nobunaga and became a great commander in his own right. Along with Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu, Hideyoshi is considered one of the three great unifiers of Japan. Both Nobunaga and Hideyoshi appeared in the Procession of Oda Nobunaga, representing the Azuchi Momoyama Period (1568 - 1600) of Japanese history in Kyoto's Jidai Matsuri. Hideyoshi is more commonly known as Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
